Timken, a global leader in bearing and power transmission products, won the 2021 “R&D 100″ award issued by the American “R&D World” magazine. With a split tapered roller bearing specially developed for wind turbine spindles, Timken was selected as the winner of the machinery/material category by the magazine. As the only industry-wide competition for awards, the “R&D 100″ award aims to recognize advanced models who apply science to practice.

Timken invested a lot of resources in the field of research and development, formed strong manufacturing, engineering and testing capabilities, and further consolidated its leading position in the renewable energy industry. In 2020, the renewable energy business composed of wind and solar energy contributed 12% of the company’s total sales, becoming Timken’s largest single terminal market.
The “R&D 100″ award is recognized as one of the most influential innovation awards in the world, focusing on commending the most promising new products, new processes, new materials or new software. This year is the 59th year of the “R&D 100″ award. The jury is composed of respected industry professionals from all over the world, and is responsible for commending innovations based on technological importance, uniqueness and practicality.
