The Detroit Lions are fully prepared for the 2021 season under the leadership of the new head coach, but several members of the team took time on Friday night to focus all their attention on the Olympics. They did this to show their support for their teammates’ wives.
After their third training camp practice, Lions players and coaches gathered in their movie room to watch Melissa Gonzalez, wife of Tokyo Olympic quarterback David Bluff, in the 400 meters The game on the bar. Gonzalez advanced to the semifinals with a score of 55.32, setting a Colombian national record.
The Lions shared a great video on Saturday morning that showed Blough and the rest of the team were crazy about Gonzalez’s achievements.
Blough, who celebrated his 26th birthday on Saturday, said he has no better gift than this.
”This is the best birthday gift you can get by her side,” Blough said via ESPN’s Eric Woodyard. “So, we are very grateful.”
Gonzalez was born and raised in the United States, but because her father has dual citizenship, she represents Colombia in Tokyo. Blough and Gonzalez attended Creekview High School in Carrollton, Texas.
Gonzalez will now try to reach the 400m hurdles final. We can only imagine how the Lions would react if she wins the gold medal.
